Astrid Wallmann (born August 15, 1979 in Landau in the Palatinate ) is a Hessian politician ( CDU ) and member of the Hessian state parliament . She is deputy chairwoman and spokeswoman for the CDU parliamentary group in the main committee.

education and profession

Astrid Wallmann trained as a bank clerk between August 1998 and June 2000 after graduating from high school in Nieder-Olm in June 1998 and worked in this profession for two years. From October 2002 to September 2005 she studied at the Wiesbaden University of Applied Sciences and graduated with a degree in administrative management (FH) .

She then worked as an auditor in the auditing office until the end of 2005 and from January 2006 to February 2008 in the principle and planning department of the Office for Youth, Schools and Sports in the Main-Taunus district . From March 2008 until her election to the state parliament, she was employed in the legal department of the Hessian Ministry of the Interior .

politics

Astrid Wallmann is a member of the CDU and was a member of the Junge Union until 2014 . From February 2006 to March 2008 she was deputy chairwoman, from March 2008 to November 2010 chairwoman of the Junge Union Wiesbaden . In October 2010 she was elected to the Federal Executive Committee at the Junge Union Deutschland's Germany Day and in October 2012 she was elected Deputy Federal Chairperson, a position she held until 2014. From 2010 to 2014 she was chairman of the education commission of the Junge Union Deutschlands. Her work at the Junge Union ended in September 2014 when she reached the age limit. From 2006 to 2011 she was a member of the Wiesbaden-Bierstadt local advisory board . She has been a city councilor in Wiesbaden since the local elections in March 2006.

Member of Parliament

In the Hessian state elections in 2009, Wallmann succeeded in winning the direct mandate in the Wiesbaden I constituency with 39.4%. The previous owner Ernst-Ewald Roth (SPD) came to 29.2%. In the state elections in September 2013, she defended the direct mandate with 39.9% of the votes and in the 2018 election with 26.6%.

In the 18th electoral term of the Hessian state parliament (January 2009 to January 2014) she was a member of the petitions and budget committee , the study commission "Migration and Integration in Hesse", the hardship commission and the council of elders as well as secretary in the Hessian state parliament. In 2012 she resigned as a member of the cultural policy committee, to which she had been a member since 2009, when she took over the position of chairwoman for the CDU parliamentary group in petition matters. At the beginning of 2013, Wallmann moved to the Budget Committee and at the same time left the Legal and Integration Committee.

Since the beginning of the 19th electoral term, she was a member of the Home Affairs, Budget and Petitions Committee and the Council of Elders. In the same month, she was also elected deputy parliamentary group chairman and chairwoman of the petitions committee for the CDU parliamentary group. In the 20th electoral term, Wallmann is a member of the main committee, the council of elders and the subcommittee on financial and administrative control.

Honorary positions

Wallmann has been the patron of the Hessen State Association of the German Multiple Sclerosis Society (DMSG) since 2015 and was a member of its board from 2010 to 2015. Furthermore, she is a member of the board of trustees of the Kinderhilfestiftung Rhein-Main eV and the Tierschutzverein Wiesbaden eV From 2012 to 2017 she was a member of the administrative board of the Evangelical Association for Inner Mission in Nassau (EVIM).

family

Astrid Wallmann is the daughter of the former Wiesbaden mayor Wilhelm Wallmann (* 1941) and niece of the former Hessian Prime Minister Walter Wallmann (1932–2013). She has a twin sister and a four years older brother. Astrid Wallmann is married and has two children.
