The Sigma SD1 Merrill is a digital SLR camera with a 46 megapixel - Foveon X3 -Direktbildsensor. It was introduced by Sigma in February 2012 as the successor to the Sigma SD1.

technical features

The Sigma SD1 Merrill has a full color Foveon X3 direct image sensor with 46 effective megapixels or 44 recording megapixels. The camera is equipped with two dual TRUE II image processing processors, a 98 percent viewfinder with an effective 0.62 × magnification and a permanently installed 3-inch monitor. The housing weighs around 785 grams without the battery and memory card, is made of a magnesium alloy and has seals. The camera model is compatible with over 40 Sigma lenses.

Sigma Photo Pro

With the Sigma Photo Pro software, image processing and conversion of RAW - to JPEG - or TIFF files can be carried out with all cameras of the SD series.

Version 6.x can be downloaded free of charge for Windows 7+ and Mac OS from version 10.7 (6.3.x). The software versions 6.5.4 (Win7 +) and 6.5.5 (MacOSX 10.9+) are currently available.

Version 5.5.3 is still available for users of older operating systems such as Windows XP and Vista, as well as MacOS from 10.4.

The software is used for the Sigma SLR cameras SD9 , SD10 , SD14 , SD15 . SD 1 Merrill as well as for the new SD1 Quattro (H) and also for the Sigma DP series including Sigma DP Quattro DP0 to DP3 ( dp0 Quattro , dp1 Quattro , dp2 Quattro and dp3 Quattro ).

SIGMA Capture Pro

SIGMA Capture Pro enables photographers to connect the SD1 and SD1 Merrill cameras to the computer and use this to control the camera settings and recordings remotely.

The software is available to all Windows users (Windows XP (SP2 or higher), Windows Vista or Windows 7 or higher) and Mac users (Mac OS X Ver. 10.5 or higher) in version 1.1.1. Currently 1.2.0 available.

SIGMA Optimization Pro

SIGMA Optimization Pro is special software that enables lenses from the new product lines to be connected to a computer via the SIGMA USB dock and to adapt the lens to the user's wishes with options such as firmware updates and focus settings. An improved adaptation of the respective lens to the camera used is also possible subsequently. The current version is 1.3 for Windows7 + and MacOS X 10.8+.

With the SIGMA USB-DOCK UD-01, the interchangeable lenses of the three Sigma lens product lines (Contemporary, Art and Sports) are set with the software.

The USB dock and the lens series with different bayonet connections are available for DSLRs from other manufacturers.
