The Sigma SD14 is the third digital SLR camera from Sigma after the SD9 and SD10 .
Like all Sigma digital SLR cameras, the SD14 uses a Foveon X3 direct image sensor . The camera has a Sigma interchangeable lens connection . As an entirely sensible hybrid arrangement, this corresponds to the Pentax K bayonet with the Canon EOS flange focal length (44 mm) which is 1.5 mm lower and the associated, but not covering, contacts. The use of M42 lenses is possible with an adapter. Unlike its predecessors, the SD14 has a built-in flash unit , can save images in JPEG mode and no longer has the Sigma external bayonet (for which lenses were never offered). The Sigma inner bayonet remained compatible. The number of pixels of the special CMOS image sensor is around 4.7 million for each of the colors red, green and blue, so that around 14 million measured values, corresponding to around 9 megapixels of a conventional sensor, are available for each recording.
The successor is the SD15 .
