The sd Quattro and the sd Quattro H variant , launched in 2016, are mirrorless system cameras from the Japanese company Sigma . Like the dp2 Quattro , they have the new Foveon X3 Quattro sensor , but with 33 or 45 effective megapixels (39 or 51 megapixels Bayer equivalent).

The two camera versions have a SIGMA SA bayonet that fits all SIGMA SA interchangeable lenses. They are thus a cross between the two camera series Sigma SD and Sigma dp Quattro and are intended to combine the advantages of both series.

technical features

The Sigma sd Quattro and sd Quattro H are the second camera series to be released with the newly developed Foveon X3 Quattro direct sensor.

The special feature of the camera is the Foveon X3 direct sensor as a Quattro variant, which is similar in structure to the classic color film, as each layer can capture all information of the available light. In addition, the hue, value and chroma of all colors are recorded with each pixel via the direct image sensor. The uppermost sensor layer for blue now has 4 times more pixels in Quattro format than the two lower layers for green and red.
