In December 1987 it was released as a single. The song reached number seven in Germany and number eight in Switzerland . It reached number four on the Billboard Hot 100 and number two in the UK .
Of Sign Your Name also a remix version of was Lee Perry released. It appeared as the B-side of the single, as well as other tracks that Perry had remixed, as a separate 10 "release.
