Signal Hill is a city in Los Angeles County in the US state of California , United States , with 10,300 inhabitants (as of 2004 ). The city is located on the hill of the same name on San Pedro Bay and is completely enclosed by Long Beach . Other nearby cities include Los Angeles , Carson and Lakewood .
The city was founded in 1924 after oil was discovered there.
