The Silberberg near Möhrenbach in the Thuringian Ilm district is 770.6 m above sea level. NHN high mountain in the Thuringian Forest .
Geographical location
The Silberberg rises in the southeast of the Thuringian Forest in the Thuringian Forest Nature Park . Its summit is around 3 km west-southwest of Möhrenbach ( near Ilmenau ), 5.2 km northwest of Großbreitenbach , 3.8 km north-northeast of Neustadt am Rennsteig and 5.2 km (as the crow flies ) south-southeast of Oehrenstock ( near Ilmenau). The Ilmsenbach flows east past the mountain, which joins the Möhrenbach in Möhrenbach to form the valley water , which rises northeast of the mountain ; the latter flows below Möhrenbach into the Wohlrose, which runs west and north of the mountain .

- About 2 km east-northeast of the Silberberg summit runs the 7391 m long and currently still under construction Silberberg tunnel of the high-speed line Nuremberg – Erfurt .
- The nationwide running and hiking event Silberberglauf , which takes place annually in the region around the mountain, is named after the Silberberg .
