Silke Meyer (ethnologist)

Silke Meyer (* 1971 in Reutlingen ) is a German ethnologist .

Life

She studied art history , English and folklore / European ethnology at the universities of Tübingen , Münster and Sheffield . After completing his doctorate in folklore / European ethnology at the University of Münster in 2002 , title of the dissertation “Iconography of the Nation. National stereotypes in English printmaking ”, she was DAAD university lecturer in the German Department of Nottingham University from 2002 to 2004 . From 2004 to 2010 she was a university assistant at the Department of Folklore / European Ethnology at the University of Münster. From 2010 to 2015 she was assistant professor (with qualification agreement) at the Institute for History & European Ethnology at the University of Innsbruck . After her habilitation in 2015, venia legendi "European Ethnology", since 2016 she has been an associate professor at the Institute for History & European Ethnology in Innsbruck . In 2017 she turned down the call to the W3 professorship in European Ethnology / Folklore at Kiel University (successor to Silke Göttsch-Elten ). She has been a university professor for European ethnology since 2017.
