Silke Stokar von Neuforn b. Heesch (born May 10, 1953 in Kleinvollstedt ) is a German politician ( Alliance 90 / The Greens ).

Life and work

Silke Stokar von Neuforn completed her training as a wholesale and foreign trade clerk in 1977 and then worked as a dispatcher until 1980. In 1983 she passed the Abitur at IGS Roderbruch and then began studying law and political science , which she finished in 1990 without a degree.

As early as November 1979, Silke Stokar was a co-founder of the Hanover district association, a forerunner organization of the Greens. In 1981 she was one of the founding members of the GABL in Hanover and became a member of the Greens in 1982.

Neuforn was a member of the Hanover City Council from May 10, 1984 to 1987, where she replaced Manuel Kiper halfway through the council. There she also acted as chairwoman or spokeswoman for the GABL / DKP group and, from 1986, the GABL parliamentary group. After she was re-elected in 1986, she signed the first red – green coalition agreement. From 1985 to 1986 she was deputy councilor and from 1986 to 1987 she was a member of the administrative committee of the state capital Hanover. From 1985 to 1986 Silke Stokar was on the jury for the “Prize for Civic Self-Help”. From 1986 to 1987 she was also a member of the Association for Leisure Education and Youth Welfare in Hanover.

From 1990 to 1994 she was the full-time managing director of the Hanover-City of the Greens district association, after being politically inactive between 1989 and 1990. From 1992 to 1994 she was a member of the advisory board of the penal institution and from 1991 to 1995 of the chamber of Defense Division III in Hanover.

From 1994 to 2002 she was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament , during which time she was the domestic political spokesperson for the parliamentary group of the Greens. In 2002, Stokar was placed third on the state list of the Greens for the 2002 Bundestag election. From 2002 to 2009 she was a member of the German Bundestag and spokeswoman for the Bundestag parliamentary group Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen for domestic policy and deputy political coordinator of parliamentary group III Interior, Integration, Law, Right-Wing Extremism, Petition, Religion, Women . Silke Stokar von Neuforn has always entered the Bundestag via the Lower Saxony state list.

She is the official supporter of the Freedom Instead of Fear demonstration . On the occasion of the election of the Federal President on May 23, 2009, Stokar declared that she had given her vote to the candidate of the Union parties, the FDP and the Free Voters, Horst Koehler and not the candidate Gesine Schwan, who was supported by her party and the SPD , as she was a possible candidate wanted to prevent coordinated voting behavior of her party with the left in a possible third ballot. In May 2010, she became a member of the regional assembly of the Hanover region, replacing the previous parliamentary group chairman, Serdar Saris .
