Siloah was an underground band from Munich , which existed from 1970 to 1972 and played free psychedelic rock .
history
LP Siloah
The group originated in a municipality in the rural Munich district of Allach , where they lived in an old farmhouse. The driving force was Thom Argauer, who mastered various instruments and was the only GEMA member. There were also Manuela Freifrau von Perfall , Tiny Stricker and Wolfgang Görner as well as changing guest musicians. In 1970 the group decided to bring out an LP . Recording, publication and distribution were all done independently. There were also some appearances, including a. in the summer of 1971 at Rötteln Castle . A short film excerpt can be seen on YouTube . This first line-up fell apart in the same year.
LP Sukram Gurk
Thom Argauer did not want to give up the group and looked for new people for it, namely Florian Laber and Markus Krug. In the spring of 1972 he recorded a few pieces with them that were released in the same year as LP Sukram Gurk , again in small editions and without commercial intentions. That was the end of the story of Siloam.
Afterlife
Thom Argauer later worked as an art lecturer and freelance artist and died in 1999. Tiny Stricker works as a writer. Manuela von Perfall also wrote books. She died on September 2, 2018. Florian Laber then played for Sparifankal and in 1982 took over the Impuls-Theater-Verlag in Planegg , which he ran until 2018. Tiny Stricker processed his experiences with Siloah in his book On the Road to Essaouira . The first pressings of the two Siloah LPs are now in great demand and are in top condition among collectors at around € 1000 each. There are now several new editions of it, as LPs and CDs. The group now enjoys cult status among the followers of this music genre.
