Silvija Hinzmann

Silvija Hinzmann (born March 28, 1956 , Čakovec , Croatia ) is a German author , translator and interpreter of Croatian origin. As a crime writer, she has been publishing since 2003 and writing crime novels and short stories.

Life

Hinzmann grew up in Daruvar / Slavonia . In 1970 she came to Stuttgart , attended a two-year private business school and completed a commercial apprenticeship. Between 1973 and 1975 she attended evening secondary school and then worked in various companies and later in the public service. From 1980 she worked as a volunteer translator and interpreter for the immigration officer of the city of Stuttgart. In 1993 she passed the state examination to become a translator / interpreter at the University of Darmstadt. This was followed by approval as a document translator and negotiation interpreter by the Stuttgart Regional Court. Since then she has been working as a freelancer.

Inspired by her work for judicial and other authorities, she began writing crime stories in 2002. Since then she has published numerous short crime novels in anthologies of various publishers in addition to the novel “Die Farbe des Himmels” (together with Britt Reissmann ). In Klagenfurt's Wieser Verlag , two Istrian thrillers were published until 2016. a. concerned with the consequences of the war in Croatian society. She has also published several short crime anthologies as editor and co-editor.

In addition, there are translations from Croatian and Serbian: poems, short stories, essays by Ivan Ott , Ivan Rogić Nehajev , short stories by Milan Rakovac , Renato Baretić , Dragan Velikić , Aljoša Pužar , Daša Drndić , Boris Domagoj , Vlatko Ivandić , Božica Jelušić and literary ones Travel guides and novels by Radoslav Petković , Sanja Lovrenčić and Marija Knežević .
