The Simbach , ( French: Ruisseau le Simbach ), is a 5.4 km long stream in France that runs in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region . On the lower half of its course, it follows the Franco-German border at a distance of a few hundred meters, but never leaves French territory. The Simbach is the northeasternmost watercourse within the natural spatial unit of the Kadenbronner Gau .

geography

course

The Simbach rises east of the town of Spichern and south of the Giffertwald ridge near the Goldenen Bremm at an altitude of about 300  m . It initially flows in a west-southwest direction along the Grosswitz and Langenacker corridors , where it reaches the Alsting location . There its direction of flow changes to west-northwest. At the end of Alsting he reaches Sieberts Mühle and the district Grosbliederstroff . After the Simbach has previously flowed through open valleys, from here on it is lined with dense forest. About 250 meters before the confluence with the Saar, the Route nationale 61 crosses , which merges 100 meters further north into the B 406 . From there, the Simbach has left the forest again and flows through meadowland. Immediately before the German-French border, it flows into the Saar as a left tributary opposite Güdingen , but in the municipality of Grosbliederstroff . The mouth height is about 190  m .

Tributaries

The region is a water-rich area. Several other brooks flow into the Simbach from both sides. There are several wells along the upper half of its course.
