Simmer Down
Simmer Down (in German about "Calm yourself" or "Cool down") was the first single from the Wailers (then consisting of Bob Marley , Bunny Wailer and Peter Tosh ), which was released in 1963 (number one hit in Jamaica in February 1964). It is a loose Ska song of almost three minutes in the key of B flat major ; the song was later played live a few times at concerts, for example at the so-called Wonder Dream Concert 1975 (joint concert with Stevie Wonder ). It is the first Bob Marley & The Wailers song to be recorded in the studio. The song was recorded with the Skatalites , a famous ska band.
There is a cover version of the song by the band Salmonella Dub on the album One Drop East and one of the Boston ska-core band The Mighty Mighty Bosstones .
