Simon Akwali Okafor

Simon Akwali Okafor (born November 16, 1934 in Ifitedunu , † August 29, 2014 ) was Bishop of Awka .

Life

Simon Akwali Okafor was ordained a priest on July 21, 1963 . He was a recognized educationalist and Provost of the Anambra State College of Education .

Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop in Awka and titular bishop of Augurus on November 11, 1994 . The president of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue , Francis Cardinal Arinze , consecrated him bishop on May 30 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Albert Kanene Obiefuna , Archbishop of Awka, and Felix Alaba Adeosin Job , Bishop of Ibadan . His episcopal motto was "Non ministrari sed ministrare".

On September 9, 1994, he was appointed Bishop of Awka. On January 28, 2010, Pope Benedict XVI. his age-related resignation.
