Simon Oberbeck (born August 20, 1983 ) is a Swiss politician ( CVP ).

After completing an apprenticeship as a businessman with a professional diploma at Novartis , Oberbeck worked from 2006 to 2008 as a public affairs assistant at the Swiss Bankers Association in Basel . From 2008 to June 2010, Oberbeck was a personal assistant to National Councilor Kathrin Amacker . Since October 2010 he has worked as managing director for CVP Basel-Landschaft . In December 2013, he moved to the Swiss Rhine ports as communications and transport policy officer . Christina Hatebur was his successor at CVP Basel-Landschaft.

In 2008 he was elected to the municipal council (executive) of Birsfelden , in 2012, 2016 and 2020 he was confirmed in this office. On November 12, 2015, Oberbeck replaced the unexpectedly deceased Claudio Botti in the district administrator , where he represents the CVP in the finance commission. He was confirmed in office in the district elections on April 3, 2019.

His political career began in 1999 as a youth councilor in the canton of Basel-Landschaft . He has been a board member of Junge CVP Basel-Landschaft since 2003 and has been a member of the national board of Junge CVP Switzerland since 2004. From 2005 to 2006 he was Vice President of the Junge CVP Basel-Landschaft. In 2006 he was elected President of the Junge CVP Switzerland and in the same year became a member of the board of the CVP Switzerland. As of November 2013, Oberbeck resigned from the office of Swiss JCVP President. The previous Vice President Jean-Pascal Ammann was elected as his successor at the party congress on November 9th .

His political focus is on foreign and economic policy .
