Simon Osei-Mensah

Simon Osei-Mensah (born May 27, 1961 in Kumasi ) is a Ghanaian politician ( NPP ).

Career

Osei-Mensah comes from Jachie in the Botsomtwe District in the Ashanti Region . After attending school in Jachie (1966 to 1979), he completed his school education in Labone in 1981 with the Advanced Level . Between 1985 and 1991 Osei-Mensah studied economics at the Bulgarian University for National and World Economy and graduated with a Bachelor of Science (B. Sc.) And a Master of Science (M. Sc.), In 1998 he received a certificate as a banker at Tietgen Business College in Odense, Denmark . Between 1993 and 2000 Osei-Mensah worked in various positions at the Agricultural Development Bank of Ghana .

In the parliamentary elections in December 2004 , Osei-Mensah was elected to the national parliament for the constituency of Botsomtwe and had been a member of this since January 7, 2005. After the member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was re-elected in 2008 and 2012 , Osei-Mensah lost to his rival Yaw Osei Adutwum in the internal elections in June 2015 and left parliament after three legislative terms on January 7, 2017 . From June 2008, Osei-Mensah was a member of the Parliament of the West African Economic Community (ECOWAS) as the successor to Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu , and between February 2013 and 2015 he was Michael Nyaumu's successor as the fourth deputy speaker of the parliament. Since February 17, 2017, Osei-Mensah has served in the Akufo-Addo cabinet as regional minister of the Ashanti region.

Osei-Mensah is of Catholic faith, is married and has five children.
