Simon Pouplin (born May 28, 1985 in Cholet ) is a former French football goalkeeper .
Career
societies
Pouplin played in the youth departments of JF Cholet and SO Cholet before joining Stade Rennes in 2000 . In 2003 he won the Coupe Gambardella with the junior team with a 4-1 win over the offspring of Racing Strasbourg. For his first two short appearances in Ligue 1 he came towards the end of the 2003/04 season as a substitute for Petr Čech . In June 2005 Pouplin signed his first professional contract with Stade Rennes and was the goalkeeper of the Bretons after the departure of Andreas Isaksson for the 2006/07 season. In February 2008 Pouplin lost his regular place to Patrice Luzi .
After Nicolas Douchez was signed during the summer break of 2008, Pouplin left Rennes and moved to the German second division club SC Freiburg for at least 400,000 euros . There he signed a two-year contract with an option for another. As a regular goalkeeper, he was significantly involved in the second division championship and promotion of SC Freiburg in the 2008/09 season . In the following first division season Pouplin was Freiburg's goalkeeper before an ankle injury, which had to be treated twice, forced him to watch for several months in the early phase of the 2010/11 season. Oliver Baumann took his place in the goal and kept his place in the goal even after Pouplin's recovery. Meanwhile, Pouplin did not receive a new contract offer at the end of the season and left the sports club after 67 league appearances in three years.
After a year without a club, Pouplin moved to the French first division club FC Sochaux for the 2012/13 season , with whom he signed a three-year contract.
National team
For the French U-21 national team , Pouplin played a game in the 2005/06 season and was the third goalkeeper behind Steve Mandanda and Jérémy Gavanon at the U-21 European Championship in 2006 .
