The Alszauberbrunnen is a fountain on Elterleinplatz in the 17th district of Vienna, Hernals .

history

The Alszauberbrunnen was designed by the sculptor Karl Philipp and ceremoniously unveiled on June 5, 1932. Its location on Elterleinplatz is directly above the arched stream bed of the eponymous Als . The figures of the Schrammel - Quartet were during the Second World War , melted, 1943, 1981 by Heribert Rath (1924-2007) on the basis of plaster models and recast in 1982 by Councilor Helmut Zilk resurgent wraps.

layout

A central plinth with putti rises in a round stone basin . The four bronze seated figures of the Schrammel musicians with their instruments Johann Schrammel ( violin ), Paul Fiebrich (violin), Alfred Rondorf ( double guitar ) and Willi Strohmayer ( harmonica ) are arranged around the base . The fountain is a memorial to the “Als waters, Viennese music and Hernals Alsegger wine” and is under monument protection ( list entry ).
