Simon Werner is missing is a French youth film by Fabrice Gobert from 2010.

action

March 1992, in a Paris suburb: During a party, two high school students from the local high school found a lifeless body in the nearby forest. The police are notified. What follows is a review of the last ten days from the perspective of various students.

Jérémie

Jérémie sees Simon Werner, who asks him if there will be football training that evening. During this training Jérémie breaks his shin and does not come back to school until a few days later. At this point, Simon has already disappeared. Traces of blood were found in the physics room, and it is said that his mother believed he ran away. Further rumors are making the rounds, for example, Simon is said to have been caught having oral sex with physics teacher Rabier, the father of classmate Jean-Baptiste. Simon's relationship with the beautiful Alice is also puzzling to the students, as he was considered rather strange. Jérémie needs help due to his injury. The punk Laetitia visits him and brings him the class notes. She claims that she finds him attractive, but then presents it as a joke. The next day, Laetitia is missing and soon after Jean-Baptiste, who was always raised by the classmates, is missing. The students are starting to worry because someone seems to be targeting the students in one class. Nevertheless, Jérémie gives a big party on the occasion of his 18th birthday, to which he has also invited his secret crush Alice. Shortly beforehand, the students learn that soccer coach Yves has been arrested by the police. During the party, the student's lifeless body is found in the nearby forest. A group of teenagers want to revisit the body and Alice is lost.

Alice

Alice and Simon are a couple. Because he doesn't get along with his mother, Simon plans to move in with his father at some point, but currently has no money for it. He goes to soccer training with Alice and gives the coach Yves money. The next day Simon visits Alice at school and tells her something that makes her sad. She lets Jérémie drive her home and cries on the drive. She stays at home sick for several days. When she starts school, Simon has already been absent for four days. She believes he fled to his father as planned because of his depressed mother. In front of her best friend Clara, she also expresses the suspicion that Simon was blackmailed by Yves because Simon had given him cash. When she sees Yves disappearing into his house with a student, she plans to tip the police. After the body was found at the party, she went in search of the body. She forms a search party with Frédéric, but runs away when he tries to kiss her. In the forest she finds a hut, sees two people flee from it and finally meets Jean-Baptiste.

Jean-Baptiste Rabier

Jean-Baptiste is considered an eccentric among classmates. Because his father is a school teacher, Jean-Baptiste has keys to almost every room in the building. It is rumored that he occasionally stays at school. He has few friends. One day, Jean-Baptiste sees his classmate Grammont kissing another boy. He tells Jérémie and his friends that Grammont is gay. Grammont hears the rumor, but suspects that Simon is the originator. A fight breaks out in the physics room and glass breaks. A little later, Jean-Baptiste sees Laeticia and Frédéric after a one-night stand. Laeticia discovers him and wants to talk to him. Another rumor is circulating that Jean-Baptiste's father is said to have had oral sex with Simon. Jean-Baptiste is confused and suspects his father. Some time later, Laeticia visits him and asks him not to tell anyone about her relationship with Frédéric. She also tells him that Grammont started the rumor about his father. Both stay together, secretly spend the night at school and the next day go to the nearby forest, where they see a hut. They stay in the hut until evening. They suspect that Simon is hiding here because his lighter is on the table. When suddenly a strange man appears in the doorway, they both flee. Jean-Baptiste wanders around in the forest and finally stands in front of Alice.

Simon Werner

Simon is engrossed in the game on his new console. He later visits Jean-Baptiste's father Rabier at school in order to receive advice from him on his further education. Grammont arrives and wants to submit a paper. Rabier refuses to accept because Grammont missed the deadline. Grammont goes mad. A little later, Simon brings the football coach Yves the money for the game console he has received. Because he needs a certain trick for a level, Yves invites him over. Grammont, on the other hand, soon visits Yves because he is unhappily in love with a boy and has no one else to talk to. Behind Alice's back, Simon and Clara have a relationship. Clara threatens to break up with Simon if he doesn't break up with Alice, and so Simon breaks up with Alice the next day at school. In the physics room he is beaten by Grammont, who accuses him of starting the gay rumor about him. Because Simon has tried in vain to meet Yves at home, he goes to the football training ground after class. He sees Jérémie and talks to him briefly. In a wooded area he lights a man he does not know. Suddenly the man stabs him and drags him into the woods. He takes the lighter.

The police recover Simon Werner's body. On the day of the funeral, the news announced that the 46-year-old perpetrator had been arrested. The funeral brings all the students together. After the funeral service, they sit in a café. Laeticia and Jean-Baptiste are also back and integrated into the group.
