Simona Koren (born March 28, 1993 in Graz , Styria ) is an Austrian - Croatian soccer player .

Koren started her career on November 26th, 2004 in the D-Jugend of the LUV Graz . After three and a half years, she moved to FC Stattegg's Bundesliga reserve in summer 2008 .

Professional career

After two years in the second team of FC Stattegg, she made her Bundesliga debut against USK Hof on the first day of the 2010/11 season . After two Bundesliga games in the 2010/11 season for Stattegg, she returned to LUV Graz on July 15, 2011. There she scored nine goals in 16 games in the 2011/12 season and moved to the USA during the 2012/13 winter break. Since then, Koren has played with Sarah Zadrazil at the ETSU Buccaneers, East Tennessee State University's women soccer team . At the beginning of May, the beginning of the semester break , she returned to LUV Graz for a quarter of a year until September 2013 . After returning to the ETSU Bucs in September 2013, she finished the season in the US. Then she returned to Austria and was under contract with the LUV Graz . She played for the Norwegian club Medkila IL during the 2016 semester break before returning to the United States and graduating there in spring 2017. In January 2017, Koren signed a contract with MSV Duisburg in Germany before leaving Duisburg again in the summer of 2017 . On September 23, 2017, Koren signed with Sunderland Ladies AFC in England , where she made her debut a day later and scored the 1-0 winner against Reading WFC . After five games in the 2017/2018 season and a forced reset by two leagues for Sunderland in July 2018, Koren moved to the Swedish Damallsvenskan club Växjö DFF on August 12, 2018 .

National team

Koren mainly plays for the U-19s of Austria and has so far played twelve international matches, where she scored twice. In addition, she belongs to the extended circle of the Austrian national soccer team for women .

Koren enrolled at East Tennessee State University on February 8, 2012 , where she is studying chemistry .
