Simone Emmelius

Simone Emmelius (* 1958 in Heidelberg ) is a German media manager .

Career

After studying English and German literature, economics and film studies at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and the University of Konstanz , she began working as a freelancer and intern at ZDF , SWR , Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung , Südkurier and then from 1984 as a trainee at ZDF .

From 1985 to 1987 she was an editor in the ZDF main editorial department for social and educational policy, from 1987 a staff officer for new channels ( arte , KiKA , Phoenix ) and explored new distribution channels . From 1996 onwards, as editor-in-chief for multimedia ( ZDFvision ) , she built up the broadcaster's digital activities, including the digital channels ZDFinfokanal and ZDFdokukanal . In 2009 she became editor-in-chief of ZDFneo ; On April 1, 2012, she succeeded Norbert Himmler as head. On May 1, 2018, she became the new head of ZDF's main editorial department for feature films.

Emmelius is married and has two sons.
