The Simonsberg north of Dresden is one of the highest elevations in the Moritzburg small peaks landscape .

Location and surroundings

The Simonsberg rises from a chain of hills about one kilometer southeast of the Radeburg district of Bärnsdorf . The mountain acts as a noise protection for the district in front of Autobahn 13 . Other neighboring places are the Dresden district of Marsdorf a good kilometer northeast and Volkersdorf about one kilometer southwest. West of the Simonsberg lies the Promnitz valley .

The Simonsberg is forested, so its summit offers no view. In the late 19th century, vines were cultivated on the mountain , but after a phylloxera disaster, the area overran. This allowed special bird species to settle on the mountain again. For this reason there are still remains of old walls from the former trade on the mountainside.

There is no official way to the top.
