history

In order to avoid incorporation by the neighboring city of Dresden, numerous municipalities in its metropolitan area voluntarily joined forces in the mid-1990s as part of a municipal reform . In the area north of Dresden, among others, Boxdorf , Friedewald and Reichenberg , Langebrück and Schönborn as well as the three communities in the Promnitztal united . From 1 March 1994 Volkersdorf, Berbisdorf and the intervening location Bärnsdorf formed with his eingemeindeten already on January 1, 1950 the district Cunnertswalde the community Promnitztal, which was named after the brook Promnitz, which flows through the three former town parts.

However, the municipality only existed in this form for less than five years. With effect from January 1, 1999, the health resorts of Volkersdorf, Berbisdorf, Bärnsdorf and Cunnertswalde were districts of Radeburg, into which the neighboring Großdittmannsdorf with the municipality of Boden , which was dissolved on October 1, 1949, was incorporated.

Promnitztal belonged to the Dresden-Land district (from 1990 Dresden district ) until its dissolution on December 31, 1995. Since then, it has been part of the Meißen-Radebeul district , which was renamed the Meißen district on March 1, 1997 .
