Small hill landscape

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A rare geomorphological form of landscape is called a small hilltop landscape. It is shown in the alternation of mostly woody full forms in a narrow space ( small knolls and flat ridges with partially protruding rock base made of syenodiorite ) with flat to trough-like hollow shapes, mainly used for agriculture, and a "hilltop frequency" of more than 3 knolls per km². These numerous wooded knolls, individual trees and bushes , ponds and ponds with typical flora and fauna , some of which are protected species , alternate with arable and meadow areas, characterize and structure the landscape.

For Central Europe, these fields are unique in their small size and thus justify their supraregional importance. Interesting views of a harmonious cultural landscape open up from the elevations .

South Swedish small dome landscape

The “southern Swedish small hilltop landscape” was described by the chemist and mineralogist Nils Gabriel Sefström when he discovered a similar area near Dresden (see below) and compared it with his homeland. The geomorphological formation processes and the development of the cultural landscape based on them are surprisingly identical. Even though different ice ages were "at work", very similar clearing landscapes of a small-scale type have emerged.

The “Moritzburger Kleinkuppenlandschaft” is located north of Dresden , for the most part on the territories of the Moritzburg municipality and the city of Radeburg . It occupies an area of over 70 square kilometers, with the scarce half the conservation area " Friedewald and Moritzburg pond area heard," one-third to only 1,998 fixed natural preserve "Moritzburger Kleine Kuppe landscape" and the natural preserve "Wilschdorfer sand hills". The rest is built-up or economically used area. In the part not used for forestry, the geomorphological peculiarities prevented the leveling of the cultural landscape through large-scale farming (as it was particularly characteristic of agriculture since the 1960s ). This is why we have retained the historical cultural landscape here, with typical field terraces , sunken paths , dry stone walls , stone ridges , small ponds and pools . The Moritzburg small peaks landscape is wrongly overshadowed by the Eastern Ore Mountains and Saxon Switzerland . In 1962 the Dresden geographer Prof. Dr. Neef that this precious landscape is unique in Central Europe from a geomorphological point of view. Such a small-scale Ice Age clearing landscape can only be found in southern Sweden. The small peaks landscape is characterized by a particularly high density of area natural monuments . Flora and fauna could also survive here that are otherwise displaced in large parts of Germany. So the area z. As a density center of White Stork , Ortolan , lapwing and red-backed shrike in the region. Botanically for the presence of more than 50 endangered plant species of the red list to refer Saxony and on rare plant communities. Parts of the “Moritzburger Kleinkuppenlandschaft” landscape protection area were designated as a special protection area (European bird sanctuary) in 2004 . The intensification of agricultural use since 1990 has also increasingly worsened the quality of life and recreation for the population and the livelihoods of native animals and plants in the Moritzburg small peaks landscape. In particular, the increased cultivation of maize and rapeseed has led to a reduction in biodiversity in recent years. But pesticides are used legally even in bird sanctuaries . The partridge, for example, disappeared in 2008.
