Friedewald , is a district of the municipality of Moritzburg in the district of Meißen in Saxony and consists of the two places Dippelsdorf and Buchholz .

geography

Friedewald is located in the southwest of the Moritzburg municipality. Neighboring northeast is the district of Moritzburg or Eisenberg , southeast of the district of Reichenberg , southwest of the Radebeul district of Kötzschenbroda-Oberort and northwest of the Coswiger area.

Friedewald is divided into two parts: the rural-village-like Dippelsdorf in the north-eastern highlands and the "bourgeois" settlement of Buchholz on the edge of the Lößnitzgrund in the south-west. It lies on the Friedewald , from which it takes its name, and in the Dippelsdorfer pond it has a share in the Moritzburg pond area .

Both parts of Friedewald will be separated by the new line of State Road 81 , a connection from Grossenhain and Meißen to the A 4 (junction Dresden-Airport ) built around 2006 . Road connections exist to Radebeul-Niederlößnitz , via Radebeul-Lindenau to Radebeul-West , to the Auer and via Boxdorf to Dresden . The Meißen transport company serves several stops on the 400 and 475 bus routes in Friedewald, and the Lößnitzgrundbahn stops at two stops in town.

history

The name of the district initially stood for a forest which, together with the Dresden Heath, formed the border forest of the Gaus Nisan . The Friedewald is mentioned in 1292 as "Fridewalt", in 1300 as "Fridwald" and in 1387 as "Frydewald", which means " enclosed forest".

The Buchholz group of houses was formed in the 18th century to the southwest of the old Franconian colonist village of Dippelsdorf . The rural community "Dippelsdorf mit Buchholz" was created on the basis of the rural community code of 1838 . Buchholz grew rapidly around 1900 and became a residential area with a spa . It had quickly surpassed Dippelsdorf in size. In 1940 this contributed to the renaming of the rural community "Dippelsdorf mit Buchholz" in "Friedewald".

In 1955, Friedewald received the title of "State Recognized Resort". According to an even older tradition, the community referred to itself as the “climatic health resort Friedewald” without having had an official title for it. Central facilities were the Kurhaus and the Kurpark in the Buchholz district and the lido in Dippelsdorf, and the proximity of the Radebeul Bilzbad also had an impact . The incorporation Peace Forest to Reichenberg took place on 1 January 1994. Exactly later the municipality Liberec was connected to Moritzburg five years. For a limited period until 2005, Friedewald was allowed to call itself a “state-approved resort”.
