history

Originally, the settlement was owned by the Fulda Monastery , but later disappears completely from tradition. The settlement belonged to the Schlüchtern monastery and thus in the late Middle Ages to the sphere of influence of the County of Hanau . In 1331 the abbot of the Schlüchtern monastery in Simundes had extensive possessions. Also this year, a mill is mentioned as a source of income for the Schlüchtern monastery in Simunds. The monastery was able to expand its property there until the 15th century. The Schlüchtern monastery finally came under the patronage of the County of Hanau in 1457, since 1458: County of Hanau-Münzenberg . There Simundes was assigned to the office of Schlüchtern .
