Sinaida Alexandrovna Krutichowskaya

Sinaida (Soja) Alexandrovna Krutichowskaja ( Russian Зинаида (Зоя) Александровна Крутиховская ; * October 3 jul. / October 16,  1916 greg. In Kargapolje ; † December 28, 1986 in Kiev ) was a Soviet professor and geophysician .

Life

Krutichowskaja's father, son of a church servant, was a forester and was sentenced to 10 years in a reformatory camp during the Great Terror of 1937 . Krutichowskaja studied at the Sverdlovsk Mining Institute (since 2004 Ural State Mining University), graduating in 1938. She then worked at the Ural Geology Office . She took part in the German-Soviet War .

In 1944 Krutichowskaja became an employee of the Ukrainian Geology Office in Kiev. She also taught prospecting at the Kiev technical center from 1945–1950 . 1945-1947 she led the geophysical investigation of Kremenchuk - magnetic anomaly in Krywbas . In 1954 she headed the geological research network.

In 1955, Krutichowskaja moved to the Institute of Geological Sciences of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic (AN-USSR) . In 1961 she became an employee of the Institute for Geophysics of the AN-USSR and headed the Earth's Magnetic Field Laboratory. In 1964 she became head of the geomagnetic field department. Krutichowskajas research were the earth's magnetic and earth's gravitational field , the tectonics and deep structure of the Ukrainian shield and in particular the Ukrainian iron ore - Rajons and the development of Ukrainian iron ore province. In 1970 she successfully defended her dissertation on the deep structure and the potential of the Ukrainian iron ore province for a doctorate in geological and mineralogical sciences. In 1981 she became a scientific advisor to the institute.
