Sinthern is a south-western district of the city of Pulheim in the Rhein-Erft district .

location

Sinthern forms a twin city district with Geyen. Brauweiler is located south of Sinthern . The Pulheimer Bach runs northwest of Sinthern .

history

In 962, Sinthern was first mentioned in a document from Archbishop Brun of Cologne . It cannot be ruled out that the place was already populated during the Frankish times. At least Roman archaeological finds could be made. Politically, the place belonged to the Kölngau since the Middle Ages , later to the office of Königsdorf in the Electorate of Cologne. In 1794 French troops occupied the place and Sinthern together with Manstedten formed a separate municipality in the Mairie Freimersdorf and belonged to the canton of Weiden in the Arrondissement de Cologne in the Département de la Roer .

Sinthern has a Catholic Church of St. Martinus , which belongs to the Pulheim deanery . There is also a parish association with Sinthern- Geyen - Brauweiler . The Protestant community of Geyen / Sinthern / Manstedten belongs to the Evangelical Church Community of Cologne-Weiden .
