Siresa ( Aragonese Ciresa ) is a northern Spanish village with only about 100 inhabitants in the Valle de Hecho in the Pyrenees in the province of Huesca in the autonomous community of Aragon .

location

Siresa is located on the west bank of the Río Aragón Subordán at an altitude of approx. 885  m . The provincial capital Huesca is about 100 km (driving distance) southeast; the city of Pau on the Navarre-French side is also about 100 km (hiking trail) to the northeast.

history

Siresa is located on a trade route that was already used in antiquity, connecting Saragossa / Huesca via the Puerto de Palo / Col de Pau with Lescar (later Pau) in the Béarn . The place probably emerged after the monastery was founded and was never occupied by the Moors .
