The Sirona Dental Systems GmbH, with headquarters in Wals in the province of Salzburg is the parent company of Sirona Group and listed through its subsidiary Sirona Dental Systems Inc. since 2006 on the US stock exchange Nasdaq (symbol: SIRO).

Products

The company is a manufacturer of treatment and diagnostic equipment for dental practices , dental laboratories and clinics. The product range extends from small dental devices to digital X-ray devices to complete treatment units.

history

The company was founded in 1997 through a private equity buyout from the dental division of Siemens AG . The dental division of Siemens AG began in Erlangen in 1877 with the manufacture of electromedical devices by the university mechanic Erwin Moritz Reiniger . This resulted in the Siemens-Reiniger-Werke in 1932 . In 1963 the company headquarters was founded in Bensheim .

In June 2006, Schick Technologies, Inc., a US company specializing in X-ray products, was taken over. Since then, Sirona has also been listed on the Nasdaq.

Since October 1, 2007, the management together with a staff of around 80 employees have their headquarters in Salzburg . In 2012 this area moved to a new center in Wals .

On September 15, 2015, it was announced that the boards of directors of the US company Dentsply International and Sirona Dental Systems, Inc. had approved a merger agreement that would result in the world's largest manufacturer of professional dental products and technologies. This merger resulted in a merged company ( Dentsply Sirona ) with the largest sales and service infrastructure in the dental sector with around 15,000 employees.

The company previously employed more than 3,300 people worldwide. With almost 1,400 employees at the Bensheim location, Sirona was the largest employer in the Bergstrasse district .
