Sisters - for getting out of prostitution! e. V. , SISTERS e. V. , is a non-profit association that advocates getting out of prostitution . It is based in Stuttgart .

History and goals of the association

The association was founded in 2015 by the Stuttgart social worker Sabine Constabel , who has campaigned for prostitutes since the 1980s, together with other women. He is one of a number of non-governmental organizations dealing with the effects of human trafficking and prostitution. The founding members include Leni Breymaier , then chairwoman of the SPD Baden-Württemberg , and the former prostitute "Huschke Mau" (pseudonym). The emeritus professor for women and gender issues at the Evangelical University in Ludwigsburg Monika Barz is also active in the association. According to a report in Emma magazine , the club had 232 members in 2017.

The nationwide active association mainly helps girls and women to quit who do not prostitute themselves of their own free will; these are mostly foreign women who are trapped in forced and poverty prostitution. According to Deutschlandfunk, it is a contact point for affected women who helps them to receive financial support and usually also a place to stay for the transition. He does public relations work and provides information about what it means for women to have to prostitute themselves. The association calls for stricter laws against pimps and human traffickers.

Sisters e. V. has a global network and has been a member of the CAP international (Coalition for the Abolition of Prostitution) association since 2018 . Representatives of the association took part in April 2019 on the “3. World Congress Against Sexual Exploitation of Women and Girls ”in Mainz and were involved in the design of the program with lectures and workshops.

Since it was founded, the association has received increasing attention and resonance across Germany in the print media, in radio and television reports and in social media.
