Skin is the debut album by the British hard rock band Skin of the same name , released in 1993 . The album produced by Keith Olsen was able to place in the top ten of the British charts and was thus the most successful of the group.

background

The group Skin , founded in 1992 , which consisted of singer and guitarist Neville MacDonald, guitarist Myke Gray, bassist Andy Robbins and drummer Dickie Fliszar, managed to attract the attention of Iron Maiden manager Rod Smallwood through numerous successful club concerts who took the band under his wing. Through a recommendation from Bruce Dickinson , in whose touring band Dickie Fliszar had previously played, Keith Olsen became aware of the group and offered to produce their debut album.

Skin flew to Los Angeles , where the group recorded eight tracks at Olsen's Goodnight LA studio; three other tracks that completed the album were recorded in the Metropolis studio in London and produced by Olsen's sound engineer , Shay Baby. The tracks recorded in London were Money , Colourblind and Tower Of Strength .

The release of the album was preceded by the release of The Skin Up EP , which was able to assert itself in the UK charts for two weeks. In addition, the songs Money and House of Love were released as singles in advance . Money reached number 18 on the UK singles chart.

reception

After the success of the single Money, the album was also able to hold its own in the charts: It reached number 9 in the album charts, making it the group's most successful album.

The German magazine Rock Hard wrote that it was not surprising that the band “musically sailed into groovy hard rock waters.” With “Which Are The Tears” and “Wings Of An Angel” were “also two passable 08/15 ballads at the start, which could bring the boys some radio and MTV airplay. " The album would offer " rock solid to nice, but completely unspectacular hard rock with American characteristics. "
