The Skrzyczne (German: Rauhkogel ) is a 1257 m mountain near the city of Szczyrk in Poland . It is the highest mountain in the Silesian Beskids and is centrally located in the Barania ridge . From the top of the mountain you have a view of Szczyrk-Biła and the Wolfsdorf Gate , Żywiec and Żywiec Lake in the Saybuscher Basin , the mountains Beskid , Magura , Klimczok , Skalite in the Silesian Beskids, the main ridge of the Lesser Beskids and Pilsko in the Saybuscher Beskids . Surname

The name of the mountain is said to come from the croaking (Polish: skrzeczyć) of the frogs that come to the former cirque lakes between the Skrzyczne and the Małe Skrzyczne .

tourism

  • A two-seater chairlift leads up the mountain from Szczyrk .
  • There are hiking trails and ski slopes of all levels of difficulty. The summit can be reached from downtown Szczyrk via two marked hiking trails. Other (marked) hiking trails to the summit start in Buczkowice , on Malinowska Skała and in Lipowa .
  • At the top there is a PTTK - Skrzyczne mountain hut
  • Furthermore, an 87 meter high steel lattice tower was built at the summit in 1992, which serves as a VHF and television transmitter.

The Skrzyczne ski area

The north side of the mountain is part of the Skrzyczne ski area . This consists of 2 chair lifts, 2 drag lifts and a total of 11.2 km of downhill slopes. The black "FIS" has an international competition license from the organization of the same name.

In August 2013, the new construction of the upper chairlift from the Hala Jaworzyna alpine pasture to the mountain top began. This was carried out by Leitner AG , who built a detachable 4-seater chairlift with yellow rain hoods in place of the old 2-seater chairlift by December 2013. The investment was partly financed by the European Union .
