Athletic career

Szymaszek began playing football at MKS Dębica before moving on to local rivals Igloopol Dębica . In 1990 he moved as a substitute goalkeeper in the squad of the competition team that had been promoted to the Ekstraklasa . In the 1991/92 season he temporarily moved up to the goalkeeper. After missing relegation as bottom of the table, he remained loyal to the club initially, before moving back to the top division in 1993 and Wisła Krakow joined. There he played 18 league games, but also rose with the team and therefore moved on to Górnik Zabrze after only one season within the championship . Here, however, he was only left with the role of substitute, so that he was temporarily awarded to his hometown club Igloopol Dębica, which was appearing in the lower class. In 1997 he joined the amateur club Hetman Zamość .

In 1998 Szymaszek moved to Germany and went to the former second division club 1. SC Göttingen 05 in the fourth class Oberliga Nord . With the relegation of the previous year he returned to the Regionalliga Nord , but missed there due to a league reform - the formerly four-track regional league was reduced to three seasons - as table ninth under relegation. Although the team qualified as champions of the Lower Saxony / Bremen season and a final 3-0 win after a 2-0 defeat in the first leg in the promotion games against Holstein Kiel , the club did not receive a license for the regional league. After another six months in Lower Saxony, he moved to SC Fortuna Köln in the Regionalliga West in early 2002 . With the former Bundesliga club , who was also in financial problems , he was on the field in 13 games by the end of the season, but the club was relegated from bottom of the table in the Oberliga Nordrhein . In 2004 he moved to league competitor Bonner SC before he was poached after a season by relegated and new league rivals KFC Uerdingen 05 . In 2007 he moved within the Oberliga to SV Straelen , after relegation he let his career at SCB Viktoria Köln end in 2008 .
