Slimane (born October 13, 1989 in Chelles, Seine-et-Marne ; actually Slimane Nebchi ) is a French pop singer. In 2016 he won the fifth season of The Voice: la plus belle voix , the French edition of The Voice .

biography

Slimane was a member of a gospel choir in his youth and attended various music schools. From 2009 he unsuccessfully took part in various casting shows such as X Factor and Nouvelle Star . At the same time, he also opened a YouTube channel, where he published his own recordings. He earned his living in Paris as a musical singer, among other things. At the age of 26 he decided to take part in the casting show The Voice again . With his version of À fleur de toi by Vitaa , he made it into Florent Pagny's team in the auditions . He survived the first rounds and was then voted by the audience through to the finals. There he won with 33% of the votes ahead of the three competitors. With his first single Paname he had a top 10 hit immediately afterwards. À fleur de toi became another hit.

His debut album À bout de rêves hit number 1 a few weeks later . It stayed in the charts for two years and received double platinum for 200,000 units sold . He was also successful in the French-speaking neighboring countries and also reached number 1 in Wallonia, Belgium. Other projects followed, such as a cover version for a memorial album for singer Michel Delpech, who died in 2016, and a duet with R&B singer Léa Castel .

In early 2018 Slimane became a coach at The Voice Belgique himself . A little later followed his second album Solune , which again reached number 1 in Belgium and number 2 in France. In May he recorded the song Bella ciao with four other French musicians . It was the most successful version of the summer hit in France, it came in at number 2 and achieved platinum status. This was followed by duets with Vitaa and with Jenifer Bartoli , which were also successful in the charts.
