Slimmy is a Portuguese band project by the musician Paulo Fernandes, who creates his style from various pop-rock varieties, especially electropunk and pop music , and performs live with a permanent musician base.
Career
After his first experiences at young talent competitions in 1999/2000, Paulo Fernandes spent more time in England , where he performed live and made demo recordings that circulated in the music scene . a. with musicians close to James (band) . His play Bloodshot Star gained some notoriety and was subsequently selected for an episode of the series CSI: Miami , while the British sports broadcaster Sky Sports used his play Self Control . In 2004 Slimmy moved to London. In the same year he played the opening act for the British tour of the US band Electric Six .
His debut album Beatsound Loverboy 2007, produced a. a. by Mark Turner and Saul Davies (from the band James), nominations a. a. at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2008 and, also in 2008, the Globo de Ouro in Portugal. The album landed at the listener poll station's Antena 3 in third place among the 100 most important Portuguese music albums since 1994. Some singles of the album reached bottom places of the Portuguese charts, especially after music by Slimmy in the successful television series Morangos com Açucar was used .
Paulo Fernandes, who has been back in Portugal since 2007, has since toured more and more all over the country with his band. In 2010 the second Slimmy album, Be Someone Else, was released .
style
In the songs, influences of electropunk mix with electronic pop music , for example in the style of New Orders , and classic rock and pop.
