SmartLynx Airlines is a Latvian charter airline based in Riga and based at Riga Airport . It is a subsidiary of the Latvian Smart Aviation Holdings .
history
SmartLynx Airlines was founded in 1992 in Riga and began operations in 1993 with a leased Tupolev Tu-134 . In 2006 began a cooperation with Icelandair , which took over a share of 55 percent in SmartLynx Airlines. In September 2019, Procyone took over a subsidiary of Avia Solutions Group SmartLynx.
Services
SmartLynx Airlines primarily offers its aircraft in ad hoc charter and wet lease for other airlines . In the 2013 summer season, for example, she flew for Condor and Travel Service .
Since the acquisition of parts of the Air Berlin least EasyJet additional capacity of SmartLynx. The rented Airbus A320s are primarily used in wet lease from Berlin-Tegel Airport .

- SmartLynx Airlines Malta was founded in Malta in 2018 .

- SmartLynx Italia was founded in Italy in 2009 and ceased operations in 2011.
- SmartLynx Airlines Cabo Verde was founded in Cape Verde in 2016 . It never started operations and was closed in 2017.
