Smilja Avramov (2011)

Smilja Avramov (born February 15, 1918 in Pakrac ; † October 2, 2018 in Belgrade ) was a Yugoslavian legal scholar.

She studied law at the University of Zagreb , worked for the public prosecutor's offices in Novi Sad and Belgrade and received her doctorate in 1950 from the University of Belgrade . There she was a lecturer, from 1960 extraordinary and from 1965 full professor for international public law . From 1973 she also held the chair for international law and international relations .

She was president of the International Confederation for Disarmament and Peace .

In the 1990s she was an advisor to the Serbian politician Slobodan Milošević . From 1996 she was a member of the Senate of the Republika Srpska . In 2011, Ratko Mladić selected her as a member of his defense team for his trial before the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia .
