Snorri Steinn Guðjónsson (born October 17, 1981 in Reykjavík , Iceland ) is a former Icelandic handball player . In the Icelandic national team and the Icelandic club Valur Reykjavík , he played on the position back center . He now works as a trainer .
Career
Guðjónsson started playing handball at the age of six. In 2003, the then 21-year-old moved from the Icelandic club Valur Reykjavík to the German Bundesliga club TV Großwallstadt . Two years later he moved to league rivals GWD Minden , for whom he was also active as a player for two years. From the 2007/08 season he wore the jersey of the Danish club GOG Svendborg TGI . In September 2009 Guðjónsson was committed to the Rhein-Neckar Löwen shortly before the start of the season. A year later he moved to the Danish first division club AG København . After winning two championships, AG København had to file for bankruptcy in the summer of 2012, whereby Snorri Guðjónsson was without a contract. In October 2012 he signed a contract with the Danish second division club GOG Håndbold. In 2013 he rose to the highest Danish league with GOG. In the 2014/15 season he went on the hunt for goals for the French first division club Sélestat AHB . From summer 2015 he was under contract with USAM Nîmes . In July 2017, Snorri Guðjónsson returned to Icelandic first division club Valur Reykjavík, where he initially worked as a player-coach. Snorri Guðjónsson ended his playing career in the summer of 2018 and has since concentrated on the coaching position at Valur Reykjavík.
Snorri Guðjónsson made 257 international appearances for the Icelandic national team. In summer 2012 he took part in the Olympic Games in London .
