Snub was an English metalcore , alternative and nu-metal band from Bournemouth that was formed in 1995 and split up around 2008 after being active intermittently.
history
The band was formed in March 1995 by guitarist Ian Field-Richards and former Embalmed bassist Martin Jeffery. The line-up was supplemented by singer Lewis Curd and drummer Luke Duffield. In May 1996 the demo Word of Mouth appeared , whereupon the singer James "Choff" Iaciofano and the drummer Vincent Edmonds, who also worked for Embalmed, are included as new members. After six songs had been recorded for the Red Rum demo in September , the Zero Tolerance demo was recorded in March 1997 , which consists of five songs. In September, the former Embalmed member Simon Smith was joined by a second guitarist. After a record deal with Copro Records had been signed in November , the EP 360 Degree Conviction was released in April 1998 . Performances in Great Britain followed with Stampin 'Ground , Medulla Nocte , the Misfits , Earth Crisis , Turmoil , Iron Monkey , Cynical Smile , GF.93 , SikTh , Napalm Death , Kill II This , Earthtone9 and One Minute Silence . In January 2000, Field-Richards left the line-up and was replaced by guitarist Marcus Diffey. This was followed by appearances as opening act for Misery Loves Co. , a tour of Great Britain with Tribute to Nothing and in April the debut album Memories in Richter , which was produced by Dave Chang . In June, Diffey left the cast and was replaced by Austin "Oz" Brooks-Thomas eight weeks later. At the end of March 2001, Edmonds, Smith and Brooks-Thomas left the band, which initially meant the breakup of Snub. In October, however, the group came back together and recorded the EP The Harvest in December, which was released in May 2002. In addition to the singer Iaciofano and the bassist Martin Jeffery, the band consists of the guitarist Martyn Aslett and the drummer Luke Duffield, who had already occupied this position in the early days of the group. In 2004 the album Why Build Bridges When You Can Burn Them was self-published. The group broke up in July of that year. In 2008 the band was re-established, but it soon came to an end.
style
Christian Graf wrote in his Nu Metal and Crossover Lexicon that the band played metalcore until spring 1996. 360 Degree Conviction offers an aggressive mix of metal , punk and hardcore punk . Joel McIver stated in his book The Next Generation of Rock & Punk Nu Metal that the band played a mix of hardcore punk and metal. On Rate Your Music , the music was assigned to alternative and nu-metal.
