Tribute to Nothing is a post-hardcore / alternative rock band from Hereford and Worcester , England, founded in 1992 .

history

Tribute to Nothing was founded in 1992 in Worcester by the then twelve and 14 year old brothers Samuel, Jim, Ben Turner and two school friends who left the band shortly afterwards . In the first few years the band only played concerts around their hometown and the second concert was seen by a few hundred spectators. In a speech in London they were from NME - Photographers Martyn Goodacre seen, which they promptly for his to Polygram belonging label Go! Discs under contract takes. The first two singles , Office Jobs and 24 Hours , are released and major appearances are made with bands like The Fall , Shellac , Dee Dee Ramone , NOFX , Iggy Pop and Neurosis , whereupon John Peel becomes aware of the band and the band becomes one of his Invites live sessions on BBC Radio 1 . The next few years will be an exciting time for young teenagers in the world of major labels , with tours across the UK .

After a few more singles, Go! Discs closed in 1997 by the parent company Polygram and the Turner brothers founded, on average just 18 years old, together with their father Jack Turner, who also acts as the manager of the band, the label Lockjaw Records . Her first release on her own label was the single Finding My Own Mind . It was published by the British music magazine Kerrang! awarded as single of the week .

The album Act Without Words, which was released in early 2003 and was the first with the new guitarist Kris Stammer, made the band known outside of England. After the album first sold well in Germany , Austria and Switzerland , Tribute to Nothing found a steadily growing fan base in Spain and the Benelux countries. In 2003 and 2004, the band performed over 250 appearances across Europe, sometimes as a support act for bands such as Hot Water Music , No Use for a Name and Days in Grief .

In 2005 Tribute to Nothing signed a contract with the Berlin label Destiny Records , on April 28 of the same year the album How Many Times Did We Live? appears. The production forwards Jason Livermore, who before that for Good Riddance and Rise Against produced albums. The mastering is done by Bill Stevenson , drummer for Black Flag , ALL and the Descendents . The first single Something I Can Trust is about the two ways of life that the band has wavered between since its inception. So it is still not possible for the band members to finance their lives from the income generated by the band, so that they have to take on temporary jobs between tours until they found their own label. Her label is now generating enough sales to make a living from it.
