Sołdek (ship)

The Sołdek is a former Polish coal and ore freighter and is now a museum ship of the National Maritime Museum in Gdansk . She was the first ship built in Poland after World War II and the first of a total of 29 of the same type (Project B30) built between 1949 and 1954 at the Stocznia Gdańska ( Gdansk Shipyard ) . The name Sołdek honors the shipyard worker Stanisław Sołdek .

The Sołdek was on the 3 April 1948 laid Kiel and ran on 6 November 1948 by the stack . She was on regular service from October 21, 1949 to December 30, 1980.
She has been a museum ship in Gdansk since 1985 and can be visited. Visitors have access to much of the ship.
