Sofia Jannok

Brita Maret Sofia Jannok (born September 15, 1982 in Gällivare , Sweden ) is a Swedish - Sami singer, lyricist and actress. Before she became known as a solo artist, she performed together with Anna Kärrstedt as the Duo Sofia och Anna .

In 2003 she won the Sámi Grand Prix with her song Liekkas . She also moderates the program Mailbmi - små folk stor musik on the Swedish radio station Sveriges Radio P2 and the Sami children's program Unna Junná on television .

style

Jannok sings mainly in North Sami in the style of the joik , although she also writes in English and Swedish . Her music is a combination of Sami folklore, pop and jazz . Her song "This is my Land" was published in a German translation by Christine Schlosser in a poetry anthology.
