The Sofia Peak ( English ; Bulgarian връх София wrach Sofija ) is a 1655 m high and icy mountain on Livingston Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . In the Levski Ridge of the Tangra Mountains, it rises 470 m northwest of the Great Needle Peak , 3 km northeast of Silistra Knoll , 1.25 km east-southeast of St. Ivan Rilski Col , 1.84 km south-southeast of Plana Peak , 1.6 km south of the Tutrakan Peak and 2.23 km southwest of Helmet Peak .
Bulgarian scientists mapped it in 2005, 2009 and 2017. Dojtschin Bojanow, Nikolaj Petkow and Alexander Shopow made the first ascent on January 8, 2015. The Bulgarian Commission for Antarctic Geographical Names named it in 2019 after Bulgaria's capital Sofia .
