Sofina (originally Société Financière de Transports et d'Entreprises Industrielles ), based in Brussels, is a listed Belgian investment company.

Sofina was founded in Brussels in 1898 with German and US capital and was initially involved in a number of significant international holdings and concessions in the energy and transport sector in Europe and America (including trams, electricity transmission, crude oil, etc. in Spain, Portugal, Hungary, Argentina, Italy, France etc.) active; the company has been a pure holding company since the 1960s.

The company now holds long-term minority stakes in a number of significant, established European companies; It also invests in private equity and venture capital funds as well as directly in start-up companies in Europe, North America and Asia. Minority holdings exist u. a. to BioMérieux , Colruyt , Danone , Ipsos , Orpea , SES and Vente-privée .

Sofina is controlled by the Belgian industrialist family Boël (indirect share of 54.8%).
