history

On July 1, 2006, a stake in Bertelsmann (25.1% of the capital, 25% of the voting rights) was bought back. Bertelsmann now belongs entirely to the Mohn family and a foundation again - and GBL's planned IPO was prevented.

The company Pargesa Holding SA in turn holds 50.0% of GBL (31 December 2008). Since GBL itself holds 3.6% of its own shares, Pargesa is the majority owner of GBL. Pargesa, in turn, is 54.3% owned by Parjointco , 50% owned by Groupe Frère-Bourgeois / CNP and 50% by Power Financial Corporation (2005). The powerful man behind this nested construction was Albert Frère .

GBL held a minority stake in Drexel Burnham Lambert in the 1980s .

In June 2013 GBL bought a 15% stake in the goods testing company SGS SA from the holding company Exor SpA .
