The Soinsee is a mountain lake in the Mangfall Mountains . It is located in the municipality of Bayrischzell and is owned by the Free State of Bavaria. With an area of 4.97 hectares , it is the smallest lake for which the Bavarian Administration of State Palaces, Gardens and Lakes is responsible.
The lake, which is up to 12 meters deep, is about five kilometers as the crow flies southwest of Bayrischzell at an altitude of 1458 m above sea level. NN . The lake can only be reached from the north via a forest road that is closed to normal traffic, otherwise there are only hiking trails into this remote mountain region.
Geologically, the lake was created by a high basin formed by glacier ice . It has no recognizable tributaries. The Soingraben only appears 780 m east of the lake at the Soin-Alm. The lake is frozen over about five months a year.
East above the lake is the Ruchenkopfhütte which a beautiful view to the west rising behind the lake Ruchenköpfen allowed. Behind these, the Rotwand can still be seen , which represents a natural barrier to the Spitzingsee located further to the west .
The hosted Schellenbergalm is located northeast below the lake .
