Solanum fusiforme is a plant type from the genus Solanum ( Solanum ) in the family of the nightshade family (Solanaceae).

description

Solanum fusiforme is a 0.5 to 2 m high shrub . The twigs are hairless to sparsely downy. The hair consists of unbranched trichomes . The sympodial units usually have four leaves . The leaf blades are almost leathery, 7 to 20 cm long and 3 to 17 cm wide. They are simple and elliptical-egg-shaped or pinnate composed of seven to eleven leaflets. The ratio between length and width for simple leaves is 2: 1 to 3: 1. The leaves are pointed or acuminate towards the front, cut off at the base to wedge-shaped. In the composite leaves, the upper lateral sub-leaflets often run down towards the base of the leaf. Both leaf sides are hairless to sparsely hairy, especially along the leaf axis. The petioles are 1 to 7 cm long and hairless or sparsely (rarely moderately) hairy with fine fluffy hair.

The inflorescences are unbranched, 6 to 18 cm long and consist of six to twelve flowers . The inflorescence stalk is 3 to 7 cm long, the often zigzag-shaped inflorescence axis 1 to 11 cm and the flower stalks 10 to 25 mm. The flower stalks are 1 to 10 mm (rarely up to 30 mm) apart, are articulated at or slightly above the base and leave residues up to 1 mm long. The inflorescences are not or only barely hairy.

The calyx is hairless and measures 3 to 5 mm in diameter. It is covered with 1 to 2 mm long and 1 to 3 mm wide, triangular and often irregularly shaped calyx lobes, the tips of which can be blunt to pointed. The crown is pink to dark purple in color, membranous and star-shaped. It measures 10 to 15 mm in diameter, the corolla tube is 2 to 3 mm long. The corolla lobes are 8 to 13 mm long and 3 to 4 mm wide at the base. They are narrowly triangular, pointed towards the front and hairless on both sides. The anthers are usually inclined and narrowly triangular. Their length is 5 to 7 mm, their width 1.5 to 2.5 mm. On the outside there is a noticeable strip of scaly papillae . The pores are directed outwards. The ovary is hairless. The stylus is glabrous hairy to sparse downy, cylindrical and 7 to 8 mm long, and from 0.5 to 1 mm by measuring. He has a cut-off scar .

The fruits are 3 to 5 cm long and 0.5 to 1.5 cm in diameter. They are elliptical-pear-shaped and pointed towards the front. The surface is hairless and yellow when ripe. There are several small aggregations of stone cells in the pulp. The seeds are 2.5 to 3 mm long and 2 mm wide, strongly flattened and hairy with short felts.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 24.

Occurrence and locations

The species occurs in Argentina , Paraguay and the southeast of Brazil . It can be found along the outflows of the Paraná and Uruguay rivers , in Araucaria forests, in clearings and in thickets of the Mata Branca area and in alluvial forests and disturbed locations. It grows at altitudes of 500 to 850 m.

Systematics
