Solonei da Silva ( Solonei Rocha da Silva ; born April 18, 1982 in Penápolis , São Paulo state ) is a Brazilian marathon runner .

Da Silva was working as a garbage collector in his hometown when he started professional training in 2009 under the guidance of former obstacle runner Clodoaldo do Carmo .

The following year he won the Porto Alegre marathon in 2:15:45 h on his debut over the 42.195 km distance , and in early 2011 he became the South American cross-country champion . As fourth of the Maratona di Sant'Antonio he improved to 2:11:32 h, and at the Pan American Games 2011 he won gold in 2:16:37 h at the high altitude of Guadalajara.

In 2012 he finished 18th in the London Marathon and won the São Paulo Marathon . After a twelfth place in the Seoul International Marathon , he was sixth at the World Athletics Championships in Moscow in 2013 .
