At the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro , medals were awarded in a total of nine archery competitions. The decisions were made between September 11th and 17th, 2016 in the Sambodromo .

Classes

At the Paralympic archery competitions, unlike in London in 2012 , a distinction was made between only two classes:

  • Open: For archers in wheelchairs or with impaired balance who shoot standing or sitting on a chair.
  • W1: For archers in wheelchairs with limited arm or leg functions.

In the first qualifying round, Maik Szarszewski defeated the Brazilian Diogo De Souza 7-1. In the second qualifying round he then defeated the Shi Xucheng 7: 3, only to be defeated by the Brazilian Luziano Rezende 4: 6 in the second round .

Uwe Herter defeated British John Cavanagh 6: 4 (124: 130) in the qualifying round . In the quarterfinals, he defeated Ömer Aşık from Turkey , also 6: 4 (124: 130) . In the semifinals he was then defeated by the later gold medalist John Walker from Great Britain 4: 6 (131: 135) and missed the finals. In the battle for third place and the bronze medal, he finally lost to the Slovak Peter Kinik 4: 6 (125: 133). With that he reached fourth place in the final ranking.

Hess was 11th in the preliminary round and was eliminated in the first qualifying round, 4: 6 (119: 120), against the Italian Veronica Floreno . She took 17th place in the final ranking. The Swiss Comte, 23rd in the preliminary round, met the Italian Elisabetta Mijno in the first qualifying round and lost to her 0: 6 (62:80). She finished 17th in the final ranking.
